Welcome our SYM interns for 2026!
Ashlyn
Hi, my name is Ashlyn! I received my undergrad in Political Science and Women and Gender studies, and currently I am getting my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver. My favorite spot to hang out at in Seattle is definitely Upper Queen Anne- they have all the shops, restaurants, and neighborhood walkability you could ask for. In my free time, you could definitely find me thrifting or hanging out with my friends. I hope this internship brings me the experience I have been seeking in order to help the people in my community. I hope to contribute to all the good that SYM gives and to be a valuable asset in a team that is committed to giving back to those in our community.
Behailu
Behailu is currently completing his prerequisites at the University of Washington, and he’s planning to major in electrical engineering. His favorite spot to hang out in Seattle is downtown by the water. In his free time, he’s usually hanging out with friends or playing sports. He enjoys helping people, and supporting those in need is really meaningful to him. In his own words: I would love to be part of the SYM community’s efforts to help people get off the street and access resources. Through this internship, I hope to gain professional experience, build my confidence, and learn new skills for my future career. I also want to contribute by being supportive and positive and by helping other students feel welcomed in the SYM community.
Christian
Christian is studying Accounting and Finance at the University of Washington and found SYM through the Brotherhood Initiative program. His favorite spot in Seattle is Uwajimaya, and you can find him reading novels or comics in his free time! In his words: community involvement has always been an important part of who I am. The resources made available through various programs worked to shape my values and character which have been vital in allowing me to succeed academically, personally, and professionally. I hope to be able to be involved within the SYM community to extend the same positive impact I experienced to others.
Daniel
Donalda
Donalda is studying Education, law, and business at the University of Washington. You can find her in Seattle “anywhere that sells Redbull Italian sodas.” In her free time, she’s playing sports, watching Netflix, and on FaceTime. In her own words: I am excited to be working at a faith based organization that serves youth! I hope to bring a smile to people's faces and to be someone that people can talk to!
Jennifer
Jennifer is in the School of Social Work pursuing a BA in Social Welfare at the University of Washington. In her own words: One of my favorite spots in Seattle is currently the Chinatown-International District. I love exploring new restaurants and enjoying the variety of Asian foods the neighborhood has to offer. In my free time, you would most likely find me catching up with friends and family, trying a new restaurant or café, or working out at the gym. Being part of the SYM community, I’m excited to learn more about the needs and experiences of unhoused youth and young adults in our community. I hope to contribute as a positive, reliable, and supportive team member, helping SYM continue its mission of empowering and supporting the youth we serve.
Leon
Hi, I’m a 2nd year undergraduate at UW studying computer science! I enjoy spending a lot of time inside of the Paul G. Allen and Bill Gates center of computer science to see my friends and study. But I often like trying out new food spots on the Ave and Uvillage. Outside of school, I like going to the gym and playing sports like badminton and volleyball. I really like reading manga, coding, and playing video games as well. I’m someone who likes to find new skills to add to my collection. I hope to be able to provide more support to the people around the Ave and learn new perspectives!
