The Drop-in Center (DI) is the heartbeat of Street Youth Ministries and is led by SYM staffer, Antonio Gomez. DI provides for basic and immediate needs of young people, including food, hygiene items, showers, clothing and laundry facilities. It is here that SYM staff and volunteers meet young folks, learn their stories, and build relationships with them. Once they are introduced to SYM, they can become involved more deeply in subsequent programs. During DI, clients can watch a movie, do art projects, workout, use laptops, play chess, take a nap and more! There are typically around 30 clients in Drop-in, but last week we hit 50!
In Antonio's words: "Every day from 10 AM to 1 PM we open the doors to SYM’s Drop-In Center not only to provide resources but to build REAL relationships that help Youth move towards stability and hope."
Outings take place in the afternoon after Drop-in. Recent trips have included Seattle Bouldering Project, The Burke Museum, Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle Aquarium, pumpkin patch, Christmas tree farm and grocery shopping at WinCo for those in transitional housing! Drop-In Hours: Monday-Friday 10am-1pm Located in the basement at 4540 15th Ave NE Seattle, WA 98105 |

"Everyone was excited about the tide-pods, the slide zippered orange bag promised fresh smelling laundry. And who is to deny the satisfaction of the soft thud when the pod hits the washer? A simple pod of laundry detergent can make someone’s day; I have witnessed it again and again..."
