Within the UDYC Collective made up of Doorway Project, SYM, ROOTS, Ryther, Interagency High School and Teen Feed, SYM is renting the UDYC building from University Congregational United Church of Christ as we work with partner organizations to provide wraparound care for young people experiencing homelessness. Historically called "The Gold House" for its original color, UDYC has housed many services and organizations over the years, all in support of unhoused and at-risk youth and young adults in the U District. UCUCC has been an instrumental partner for each and every organization that has operated out of the space. For the month of February, the UCUCC hallway in front of the foyer will be decked with photos and text highlighting the collective work happening just across the alley from the church. The congregation will greatly appreciate having context for their current neighbors!

Cold Weather Client Needs
|
A word from our Coffee Run team:
In the past few months, SYM's Coffee Run outreach program has grown significantly and we have seen a huge increase in need among our unhoused neighbors. From December to January, we saw a 40% increase in cups of coffee served, and our reach is continuing to grow as we move into February. In the first week of February, volunteers have served an average of 16 people each morning, compared to an average of 10 people in both December and January.
With these growing needs in our community, we are in need of more cold weather necessities like hats, gloves, socks, rain ponchos, and hand warmers to provide for those staying outside. To make a contribution to help support these needs, please see the link below.
